What a pleasant surprise, however, to discover with the first use that I've finally found the perfect tool for making drip coffee, whether one cup at a time or a small pot -- up to a liter. By design, it enables a controlled, slow pour of heated water over the coffee grounds, allowing one to easily and gently moisten all the grounds in every corner of the filter. The removable lid also has that same heat resistant plastic as a knob and 4 vent holes. The goose neck spout is placed very low at the base so when your pouring your what ever out you just have to tip your hand slightly and everything will empty out. On the instructions, that comes with the kettle, it says not to boil your water in it but I did many, many times and to my amazement the bottom of it didn't burn or leave those black/blue marks that can be found on past stainless steel items that I've used on open flame. One thing I did notice is of the plastic handle was also over that same flame it would begin to make popping sounds, I'm guessing this is the reason why they warn against it. The spout is open at the tip so when I'm using it out side I wrap it up with tin foil, you do want to be mindful that flies or dust or food could possible find its way in... But, as luck would have it, this is a rather well made product with nice thick steel, excellent sanitary welding for the gooseneck, and superb craftsmanship. I compared it to my Hario, and while the shine in the picture isn't quite representative, it has a nice brushed finish that minimizes fingerprints and water spots. I had no trouble using this on a flat top stove or butane burner.You'll want to give this a proper hand washing prior to use, and boil a few kettles of water in it when you first buy. I noticed some murky water the first time I boiled anything in it, no doubt residue from manufacture. Like any stainless pot, it will accumulate some scale particularly if you have hard water. A...
